Who We Are

Serving Southern Ethiopia with Excellence

Arba Minch General Hospital (AMGH) is not just a building; it is a vital organ in the healthcare system of the SNNPR region.

Located in the heart of Arba Minch town, we serve as the primary referral center for the Gamo Zone and surrounding woredas. Our Ophthalmology department aims to eradicate preventable blindness, specifically targeting high-prevalence conditions like Trachoma and Cataracts.

We collaborate closely with Arba Minch University to train the next generation of medical professionals.

Technology

Our Digital Transformation

We have replaced manual paper records with a state-of-the-art Hospital Management Information System (HMIS). Here is how it works:

Reception Desk

The entry point. Data Clerks register patients digitally, generating unique Medical Record Numbers (MRN) instantly.

Triage & Vitals

Nurses record Visual Acuity (Snellen), IOP, and BP directly into the system, visible immediately to the doctor.

Doctor's Console

Ophthalmologists view full history timelines, prescribe medication digitally, and order lab/radiology tests with one click.

Laboratory & Rad

Technicians receive requests instantly and upload results/scans back to the patient's digital file.

Smart Pharmacy

Pharmacists view digital prescriptions and dispense medication, with the system automatically updating inventory stock.

Admin Control

Administrators oversee the entire workflow, manage user roles, audit logs, and generate HMIS reports.

Our Mission

To reduce morbidity, mortality, and disability in the community by providing comprehensive, high-quality, and accessible health services through competent professionals.

Our Vision

To see a healthy, productive, and prosperous community in the Gamo Zone by becoming a center of excellence in medical care and education by 2030.
